Living in big cities could be stressful. Yet, many people wish to smell their favourite aroma when they are home from tedious work. Enjoying their me-time in a cozy environment whilst relaxing their tired soul is a nice pick-me-up. Home fragrances can be categorised into nebulizing diffusers, ultrasonic diffusers and aromatherapy humidifiers - which go buzzed in recent years. But do you know their differences? What are their good and bad points? We have summed up the differences of these home devices, so you can take a handful of key considerations that can steer you toward a good option.

Nebulizing diffusers VS ultrasonic diffusers VS air humidifiers, what’s the difference?

Before you grab one home, please read carefully as diffusers and humidifiers differ in minute detail, you should know how to use them precisely before shopping.

Nebulizing diffuser:

  1. It diffuses essential oils in the air for aromatherapy purposes.
  2. No water is needed and it cannot effectively increase air humidity.
  3. It breaks down the essential oil into separate molecules by air pressure which are dispersed easily throughout the environs.

Ultrasonic diffuser:

  1. It is a mix of humidifier and aroma diffuser.
  2. By mixing both water and essential oil, the ultrasonic vibration will break down the aroma molecules into a fine mist whilst increasing the moisture content in the air.
  3. Since essential oil will be mixed into it, it’s made of the material more resistant to erosion.

Air Humidifier:

  1. Unless it’s written as “aroma humidifier” or “aroma diffuser”, normally humidifiers are used for increasing its relative humidity in the air without any aromatherapy.
  2. You just need to add in water, the ultrasonic vibrations will break it down into very tiny droplets and blow it out into the atmosphere.
  3. Its design can be much simpler as it doesn’t require anti-erosion feature.
